ABSTRACT

Namavari M, Hosseini MH, Mansourian  M,  Shams Z,  Amrabadi O, Tahamtan Y,   Moazeni-Jula F., Screening for causative infectious agents of abortion in Iran, Onl J Vet Res., 16 (3):147-153, 2012. We describe current status of abortions in cattle, due to infections, in Iran. Blood was taken from 135 cattle with a history of abortion during the year and tested for antibodies to Neospora caninum (NC), Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV), Brucella abortus and Chlamydophila abortus with commercial diagnostic kits. The infection rate of NC was 33, IBRV 39, BVDV 52, Chlamydophila abortus 16 and Brucella abortus 4.5%. N. caninum, IBR and BVDV should be the focus of effective control programs.

Keywords: Abortion, Neospora caninum, Bovine viral diarrhea virus, Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis virus, Brucella abortus, Chlamydophila abortus.
