ABSTRACT

Seifi S, Asasi K, Mohammadi A, Shirzad MR and Pourfallah M. Serology and lesions in broilers with avian H9N2 and bronchitis viruses., Onl J Vet Res, 30 (1): 42-49, 2026. Avian H9N2 influenza virus is mostly slightly pathogenic but cases with high mortality have been observed. We excised tracheal samples from broilers with respiratory disease and high mortality for viruses by RT – PCR. For serology, inoculums from trachea from broilers with H9N2 AIV,  bronchitis or both viruses, we inoculated 0.2 ml intranasally groups of twenty 21 day old birds and monitored clinical signs, feed intake, mortality and gross lesions. Birds were bled on 0, 10 and 20 days after inoculation for sera antibodies to H9 by hemaglutinin and bronchitis virus by ELISA. By AI Hematoglutinin tests. compared with controls, we found that chicks infected with AIV and bronchitis virus, antibody increased (P < 0.05) 43% by day 10 and 73% by day 20, with AIV 24 and 67% whereas with Bronchitis virus declined 24 and 100%. By ELISA same results were AIV + IBV  63 and 75%, AIV  -12 and -55%, IBV 71 and 78%, respectively.
