ABSTRACT
Razavi SM, Nazifi S, Rakhshandehroo
E, Ghane M., Changes
in blood in sheep infested by Theileria lestoquardi, Onl J Vet Res., 30
(3): 159-169, 2026. We describe effect of natural Theileria
lestoquardi (hirci)
infection on hematology and enzymes in 1-2 year old sheep infected by <2%(n=14), 2-4%(n=25), and >4%(n=11) parasites. We used 10
non-infected as controls. Compared with
controls, in those with <2% parasites, red blood cells declined (P < 0.05)
24%, with 2-4, 37% and >4 parasites, 57%, packed cell volume fell 23-50%,
hemoglobin 14 to 50%, superoxide dismutase 20-29% and glutamine phosphatase 26-43%
whereas metheglobine increased (P < 0.05) 46-59%.
There was no effect on corpuscular hemoglobin.
Keywords: Theileria lestoquardi, sheep , hematology, antioxidant.
