Serum and cerebrospinal fluid antioxidant vitamins and trace elements in healthy dromedary camels.

ABSTRACT

 

Hoseini M, Pourjafar M, Chalmeh A, Badiei K, Nazifi S, Naghib M., Serum and cerebrospinal fluid antioxidant vitamins and trace elements in healthy dromedary camels, Onl J Vet Res., 17(10):561-565, 2013. Serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were taken from 30 male adult clinically healthy dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius). Serum and CSF concentrations of selenium were 0.16±0.01, 12.29±1.33, zinc 7.96±2.15, 8.11±4.01, copper 6.59±1.99, 9.74±4.29, vitamins A 3.19±1.05, 1.29±0.46, C 10.24±5.49, 785.07±450.30 and E 0, 2.60±1.09, respectively  Serum concentrations of copper, vitamin C and vitamin E were significantly higher than same CSF values.  Selenium and vitamin A levels  in CSF were higher than in serum. There was no significant difference between serum and CSF concentrations of zinc.
