ABSTRACT

Madurantakam N, Sundararaman, Masilamani JE.,  Kinematics of Boer goat spermatozoa during cryopreservation, Onl J Vet Res., 10 (2): 117 - 124, 2006. Cryo-preservation of Boar goat spermatozoa and variation in sperm kinematics between bucks was assessed by computer assisted semen analysis (CASA).  Cryo-preservation affected sperm motility, progressive motility, path velocity, progressive velocity, track speed, beat cross frequency, straightness and linearity. The reduction in lateral amplitude of sperm head in post-thaw semen was also lower. Significant differences were noticed between bucks in post-thaw semen for path velocity and progressive velocity. The variations found between bucks in post-thaw semen for beat cross frequency and linearity were highly significant (P ≤ 0.01).

KEY WORDS: Goat, Spermatozoa, Kinematics, Cryopreservation, CASA.
