ABSTRACT
Raayat Jahromi A, Meimandi Parizi A,Bidram H, Mehrshad S, Nasirinasab M., Radiography of metacarpus
and tarsus in sheep, Onl J Vet Res., (7) :420-424, 2026. Radiography
of bone cortex diameters are used to diagnose normality.
We measured cortexes diameter of metacarpus and metatarsus and correlation with
thoracic and pelvic limb of 25 mature sheep excised at slaughter. Dorso palmar-plantar, metacarpal and metatarsal bone radiographs
were taken to determine cortex diameter ratios in metacarpal-tarsal diaphysis,
proximal and distal metaphysis. Mean cortex diameters coefficient were 0.24 in metacarpus
and metatarsus diaphysis with no difference in cortical thickness or diametrs. However, cortexes correlated P 0.05) with bone
diameter of thoracic and pelvic limbs.
Key Words: Bone and cortex diameter, C/D ratio, metacarpus,
metatarsus, sheep.
