ABSTRACT

 

Zahoor MA, Hussain I, Mahmood MS, One-Step RT-PCR for detection of infectious bursal disease, Onl J Vet Res., 9(1):6-11, 2005. A simple method for the rapid detection of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) was developed employing a single-tube reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The method utilized a single buffer system for both RT and PCR and was performed without interruption as a single thermal cycling program. A set of primers was used to amplify 743bp fragment of the VP2 gene from the nucleotides 701 to 1444. The method was applied to detect IBDV in 26 bursa samples. Twenty one samples were found to contain the IBDV genome. The results of the present study indicated that the single-tube RT-PCR may be a useful method for detecting IBDV in bursa tissue samples from suspected cases in epidemiological investigations.
