ABSTRACT
Liandris E, Gazouli M, Ikonomopoulos J., Solute carrier family 11 member A1 gene in goats resistance to paratuberculosis.
On J Vet Res, 30 (6): 368-379, 2026. Solute carrier family 11 member A1 (SLC11A1), induces resistance to disease. We report sequence and structure of goat (Capra hircus) SLC11A1 gene and polymorphisms with innate resistance to
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). Blood, serum and faeces were taken from >2 year old 50
goats from a herd of 400 with history
of paratuberculosis. We
sequenced
MAP DNA and antibody by
RT-
PCR and ELISA finding
2004 bases consisting of
1648 open
reading
frame
encoding a 548 residue protein. The 3' untranslated region yielded 2 microsatellites with guanine-thymine repeats, named regions
A and B. We found
association (P < 0.05) between B8
allele of polymorphic region B and presence of MAP DNA in faeces.
