Cardiac arrhythmias in healthy newborn female Holstein dairy calves

ABSTRACT

 

Chalmeh A, Pourjafar M., Cardiac arrhythmias in healthy newborn female Holstein dairy calves, Onl J Vet Res., 17(7) 391-395, 2013. Electrocardiograms (ECG) were recorded in 56 healthy 8 to 48 hr old newborn female Holstein dairy calves. ECGs showed that sinus tachycardia was present in 75% of calves whereas other calves had normal sinus rhythm and no cardiac rhythm irregularities were detected. None of the calves with cardiac arrhythmias showed any clinical signs of heart disease at the time of electrocardiogram recordings the arrhythmia observed in this study should be considered physiological.
