Inspection of cysts (Taenia saginata) in carcases.

or dead T. saginata
cysts in carcasses of 25 naturally and 30 artificially infested cattle. In those
infested articially, we found 864 (51.95%) live and
799 (48.05%) dead ones, whereas in natural infestations, 361(53.80%) live and
310 (46.20%) dead ones. Meat inspection revealed 12 carcasses with cysts in
each group, 3% in heart, 1.8% tongue, ~1
% triceps brachii but none in masseter and pterygoid
in natural infestations whereas in artificial infestations 5.3% heart, 1.8% triceps
brachii, 0.7 masseter and pterygoid and 0.5% tongue
(0.54%) during meat inspection. By dissection, 22% in liver 17% heart, 15 hind
limbs 13, fore limbs 6.5 chest 6 neck and back 4.4, pelvis 4 lumbar, 3.9 lungs 2.5
tongue, 2.4 head 2 diaphragm 0.5, rumen but
none in kidneys in those infested artificially. In carcasses of naturally
infested animals, the order was from fore limbs (24.74%), hind limbs (23.85%),
liver (12.22%), chest (9.24%), heart (8.79%), lumbar (6.56%), pelvis (3.58%),
tongue (3.28%), lungs (2.98%), neck and back (2.38%), head (1.49%), diaphragm
(0.75%), kidneys (0.15%) to rumen (0.00%).
