ABSTRACT

Akhtar M,  Ishaq HM, Effect of coccidiosis on the humoral response of chickens vaccinated against hydropericardium syndrome, Onl J Vet Res., 10 (1):1-6, 2006  An indirect heaemagglutination (IHA) test was used to evaluate the effect of coccidiosis on humoral response of chickens vaccinated against hydro-pericardium syndrome (HPS). IHA antibody titre against HPS of the experimentally induced coccidiosis chickens ranged from 1:4 to 1:16 (Geomean titre; GMT 6.95) and that of control chickens ranged from 1:32 to 1:512 (GMT 152.17). IHA antibody titre against HPS of the sera samples collected from a commercial coccidiosis outbreak broiler flock ranged from 1:8-1:512 (GMT 39.93). Results revealed a significant differences (P<0.05) in GMT against HPS between experimentally infected, control and field outbreak cases.

KEY WORDS: Humoral response, hydropericardium syndrome, coccidiosis, chickens.
