SUMMARY

Mohan P, Jayaprakasan V, Punnoose KT, Mini M., SDS-PAGE Proteins in Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis toxin (goat). Onl J Vet Res.,   5: 10-13, 2001. Three toxins were extracted from culture filtrate (CF), whole cell lysate (WCL) and sodium chloride extract (SCE) from Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis analysed by SDS-PAGE. Protein fractions with molecular masses (MM) of 8-200, 20-200 and 19-191KDa were isolated. Toxin fractions from field isolates and reference strain did not differ; 31.6 and 68KDa bands were found in the 3 toxins. One fraction (MM 31.6KDa) was identified as phospholipase D exotoxin which is responsible for dermonecrotoxicity (antigenic fraction).

Key words:   Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis; toxin; SDS_PAGE; caprine
