ABSTRACT

Chaudhari P, Powar K, Sridhar E, Tripathi S., Cisplatin therapy injections for an oral tumor in a Burmese python (Python molurus bivittatus), Onl J Vet Res., 16 (4):159-162, 2012. A 26 year old female Burmese Python (Python molurus bivittatus) from the Central Zoo of Mumbai presented with a growth on right lower jaw. The growth had initiated from the lower side and later extended to the median and lateral sides of the jaw. Biopsy revealed a fibromatous growth compressing the trachea. The tumor was found to be inoperable and was then injected 100 μl Carboplatin at 10 different sites 3 times once a week with a BD 1ml insulin syringe 26G needle. Slight gross growth arrest was noticed after second injection which lasted only for 2-3 weeks. Clinical toxicity was not observed.
