Radiographic measurements of both hind feet of 10 Dareh-Shori
horses aged 3-17yr with height of 153-159cm are reported. Examined hind hooves
were cleaned, marked with contrast and supported on wooden blocks for
radiography. Radiograph measurements in cm (SD) were dorsal wall length
8.4±1.49, sole length 12.82±1.33, P3 to toe 2.03±1.33, sole thickness
1.49±0.6cm, distal interphalangeal joint height 4.25±0.87, founder distance
0.69±0.33, hoof axis (S) angle 54.85±2.59, third phalanx axis (T) angle
53.4±2.39, P2 axis (U) angle 48.9±3.77, H (T̵ S) angle -1.45±2.65 and R(T̵ U) angle 4.5±3.08. ). Results could be used to
recognize and treat hoof capsule distortion before lameness or distortion
affects performance.
