Avian leukosis virus subgroup J in albumen of broilers and layers

ABSTRACT

We report avian leukosis virus subgroup J in egg albumen of 60 grandparent, 180 breeder broilers and 60 layers by RT-PCR. The PCR was done with RNA pair of ALV-J specific primers H5/H7 to yield 545 basepair. We found the virus in 8.3% from 3 broiler breeder farms and ~24.3% native fowl but none in layers or broiler grandparent. Direct sequencing of primers from subgroup ALV-J verified the viral subgroup.
