ABSTRACT

Javdani M, Nikousefat Z., Limping panosteitis in a female Pomeranian puppy, Onl J Vet Res., 21(3):110-114, 2017. Canine limping with panosteitis is an acquired self-limiting inflammatory condition of unknown etiology affecting diaphyseal and metaphyseal regions of the long bones of immature male large-breed dogs. A 4 month-old female Pomeranian puppy presented with intermittent lameness in the hind limbs accompanied by depression, anorexia and fever. Palpation of thighs elicited pain with no evidence of swelling and fracture. Vital signs were normal but radiography showed increased density in the medullary cavity of both femurs. Panosteitis was diagnosed and puppy was given 0.2mg/kg meloxicam daily for 7d and calcium-vit D. Dietary change and gradual daily walking was suggested and reduced lameness after 2 weeks.

Keywords: Canine limping, Pomeranians dog, Panosteitis.
