ABSTRACT
Kaur H, Singh R, Pandey S., Effect of Azadirachta indica oil on mortality
and eggs from ticks. Onl J Vet Res, 30 (6): 386-397, 2026. Engorged female of Boophilus microplus ticks ingested blood on cattle 3-7 days treated
with 0.2-0.8% A indica oil. Controls
died by 33 hours whereas in those given A.
indica oil death occurred at 20h with 0.2%, 15h with
0.4%, 9h with 0.6% and 6h with 0.8%. With 0.8% oil only 8.33% laid eggs, 0.4%,
74% with 0.4% oil and 67% with 0.6% oil. In acetone and water controls we found
92.83% and 96.43% laid eggs. Egg laying was delayed 73h
with 0.2% oil, 83h with 0.4%, 113h with 0.6% and 136h with 0.8% compared to 54-57h
in controls. Controls laid ~1500-2000 eggs in 1 cluster, whereas treated ticks
laid only 120-140 eggs in 4-5 scattered clusters.
Key words : Azadirachta Indica, seed oil, neem, mortality, eggs,
