ABSTRACT

Hazaa IKK, Noor AAT, Khalil NK, Zakri AMM., Effect of onion and garlic oils on experimental Cryptosporidium parvum infection in mice, Onl J Vet Res., 20(10):660-666, 2016. Groups of ten, 3-4 week old BALB/c mice infected with 103/ml C. parvum  oocysts were fed 0.2ml garlic or 1ml/100g body weight onion oil daily for 15 days. Positive controls consisted of 10 mice infected but not treated and negative controls not treated or infected. Effects were evaluated by counting oocyst in feces and microscopical evaluation of ileum in mice. Results suggested that the oils may have affected the outcome of experimental cryptosporidiosis.

Keywords: Cryptosporidium parvum, mice, garlic, onion, stomach tube.
