of lindane, clonazepam, ivermectin
and permethrin on clonic seizures in mice.,
Onl
J Vet Res., 29 (5)
: 259-268, 2025. We describe effects of lindane and permethrin on pentylene-tetrazole
(PTZ) clonic seizure in mice. In
controls. seizure threshold for PTZ was 35.290.56 mg/kg whereas in
those given lindane decreased to 28.10
0.70 and with permethrin
22.90
0.80 mg/kg. Treatment
with lindane or permethrin antagonized effects of
clonazepam and ivermectin on PTZ-induced seizure
threshold. The results suggest that increasing the PTZ-induced threshold with
clonazepam and ivermectin may be due to a competition
between these drugs as GABAA agonists and PTZ as GABAA antagonist. Decreasing
the PTZ-induced threshold with lindane and permethrin
may be due to additive antagonistic effect of PTZ and these agents on GABAA
receptor. Decreasing the agonistic effects of clonazepam and ivermectin on PTZ-induced seizure with lindane
and permethrin may show a competition between these agonists and antagonists on
GABAA receptor. Lindane also was more powerful convulsant
than permethrin.
