ABSTRACT

Ravikumar G, Satyendra PS, Amrita C, Kaur T, Narang R. Catalysis of Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase gene in Cattle, Onl J Vet Res., 30 (2): 117-125, 2026. Glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase (G6PD) induces NADPH and fatty acid biosynthesis and detoxification of organic peroxides in cells. The structural gene for G6PD is X linked in mammals and expressed as housekeeping gene. We report coding sequence of Bos indicus G6PD mRNA with 1548 bp for 515 amino acids. We find that an 11-residue tryptic peptide with reactive lysine involved with catalytic G6PD activity is similar to that found in yeast and humans.
