Contrast radiography of distal sesamoid and CT-arthrography of interphalangeal joint gap in cattle

ABSTRACT

 

Meimandi PA, Gandomani JM, Bagheri MH, Contrast radiography of distal sesamoid and CT-arthrography of interphalangeal joint gap in cattle, Onl J Vet Res, 13 (2):19-26, 2009.  Distal hind limbs and forelimbs were collected at abattoir from healthy Holstein cows with no signs of clinical lameness. Ten hind limbs (A) and 4 forelimbs (B) were used. Hind limbs were subjected to contrast radiographic and forelimbs to contrast computed tomography (CT) to visualize distal sesamoid bursa and distal interphalangeal joint space. Images showed absence of contrast medium in distal sesamoid bursae suggesting no anatomical communication between distal sesamoid bursa and distal interphalangeal joint in cattle.
