ABSTRACT

Ramamoorthi J,  Sivaselvam S N, Subramanian A, Kumarasamy P, Karthickeyan S M K, Thangaraju P., Genetic structure of Tellicherry goats (Capra hircus) based on microsatellite markers, Onl J Vet Res., 10 (2) : 156-161, 2006. Tellicherry goats were characterized by FAO recommended microsatellite markers. All 21 loci were highly polymorphic with PIC values ranging from 0.5785 to 0.8349. Significant differences (P<0.01) were noticed between observed and expected proportions of genotypes at 14 loci in the Tellicherry population studied. The highest expected heterozygosity value was 0.8504 and lowest was 0.6445 in this breed.
