ABSTRACT

AlGburi NM., Providencia vermicola  isolated by RT-PCR and antibiotic resistance associated with diarrhea in  cattle, Onl J Vet Res., 27 (12) : 659-663, 2023.    Sixty   fecal  samples were collected from cattle exhibiting severe diarrhea.  Samples were inoculate into pepton water, incubated 24h at 37°C, subcultured on McConkey blood agars 24h at 37 °C. By microscopy, culture and biochemical tests we identified Providencia vermicola confirmed by PCR 16S rRNA gene with 100% homology. The isolate was tested for susceptibility to 10 antimicrobials by disk diffusion and found to be resistant to 5 of them. BAB812 strain was highly resistant to trimethoprim with sulfamethoxazole, polymyxin B, trimethoprim, tetracycline, neomycin and sulfafurazole whereas  P.vermicola BAB813 strain exhibited high resistance to chloramphenicol, polymyxin B and tetracycline.
